Well, Duh!!

Please don't comment "Duh" after you read this blog. Although, I would understand if you did!

I finally put 2 and 2 together and figured out why my weight went up a handful of pounds last year. I realized that whenever I reached the top of my goal weight range that I would relax a bit and estimate more. Although I'd say I was aiming to get back to 126, the mid-point of my range, as soon as I hit 129 I didn't feel much pressure to lose more. So although I weighed 124-129 in 2011, I weighed 128-133 in 2012.

If I'm going to get back to the 2011 range I prefer, I have to keep losing below the top of my goal weight range. Although I'd rather you not say it, I will: Duh!!

    Estimating never worked for me, I am lousy at it. If I gain weight, its easy to see every single calorie that I tracked and put back on my waistline, so I have no excuses if I gain weight. Here is to being more accurate tracking in the New Year
For an example a banana varies extremely in weight and you can't tell from looking at it alone. I always look for the smallest ones possible and can still be surprised that they weigh 100 g anyway! That really goes for just about anything you eat, and the higher in calories the food, the more easy it is to get too much!

    It's all good, Marsha! It's also about how you feel. You do what makes you feel good and healthy. I still can't get used to my runner body. I saw a recent local tv interview of me and didn't recognize myself!

    I think you are perfect! But I couldn't agree more - once we get comfortable, the weight does seem to sneak back up on us! Better to have a maintenance plan in hand!

    All the time in this maintenance journey I hit up against my own "duhs" -- as in, for example, my persistent confusiton of "abundance" with food food food. So: can't direct any "duhs" at anyone else. Just celebrating with you on figuring it out!!
