Starting over... again...

Thursday, December 27, 2012

I'm not new to Sparkpeople, just haven't been active in a couple of years. When I first came here, I weighed 260 pounds. Through this community, I was able to lose 80 pounds and get a lot more active. Was close to signing up to run a 5k, even.

And then, my husband blew out his knee, trying to compete with me. I felt so guilty, I made up my mind that I was going to take care of him... His surgery led to multiple cases of bronchitis, for which the doctor put him on inhalers. Both of our weights have skyrocketed, to our heaviest yet. Sigh...

Last month, my sister had a severe health crisis. She literally died three times, but was resuscitated each time by wonderful doctors. Her recovery in the hospital was nothing short of a miracle, I'm blessed to report. Her heart is not well, however, but the doctors cannot do much until she loses 100 pounds. Guess who else needs to lose 100 pounds? Yep, me.

So, I'm starting again. Going to lose this weight before my sister is posting about my heart attack, or my death... Both of us have a lot to live for, starting today.

I am so glad you are back! And so glad to hear that your sister was able to pull through such a terrible medical crisis. AND, I'm glad that your sister's health crisis has motivated you to get back on track with your health.

It's a great time to start over. It's not easy losing that much weight, but one step at a time you're going to reach your goal!

I am also starting over today. I need to lose 109 lbs. I have not had any health scares but do have a special needs son who needs me around for the long haul. Good luck to us all, we can do it.
