Lots of snow!

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Cooper didn't want to walk very far this morning. It was cold and windy and I put his coat on him. That combination of conditions meant that he walked less than a mile before giving me "the look" and lying down in the grass. So he got carried inside my coat for the rest of our morning walk. Spoiled pup!

I had to go out again before lunch to get more blood work done (my arms are starting to look like pin cushions!), and return some books to the library. I took the really long way home by way of the dog groomer's (where I made an appointment for Cooper next week) and up the biggest hill in town. I made it home before the snow started falling in earnest.

For Cooper's afternoon walk we went out and the snow was falling quite noisily... shushing through the bare branches of the trees. It started snowing around 1pm this afternoon and has been falling quite heavily ever since. The pooch didn't mind the walk too much, but I kept it short because the snow and ice builds up between his toe pads which makes him limp. I have boots for him, but he hates them even more than he hates his coats. He hates them even more than this year's Halloween costume, which is really saying something!

I whipped up a quick dinner, including some red hot thai curry orzo, lots of veggies, and a light cheese sauce. Read a book, then braved the elements again to take Coop out for his evening walk. I am just glad I don't have to drive anywhere tonight. I saw a number of cars fishtailing on the slippery roads. It was funny watching Cooper bouncing through the snow drifts which were almost head high on him. He looks like a jackrabbit the way he bounces up and down.

Now I am snug in my apartment with the dog curled up in my lap. I even turned on the heat in my apartment today. Last winter I only turned it on once. I normally make do with a little space heater, but I got cold last night and couldn't get warm after taking the dog out for his first walk. I might even leave the heat on over night tonight. Decadent, I know, but I have gotten spoiled I guess.

So, I managed to walk 6.2 miles today, and did 225 jumping jacks (not all at once) to keep my fitness streak alive at Day 463. Despite the snowy conditions we will be out walking tomorrow as well.

I don't like walking outside in the cold and blowing (like Cooper)! LOL!
I like my Leslie Sansone DVD's for these days.

Great job on the walking though, even though the weather wasn't ideal outside.

Oh no! You can keep your cold and your snow. I do not like cold. We are currently 37 degrees and I swear I think I have icicles beginning to form on my eyelashes. Brrr. Did I mention I don't like the cold? Nope not me. Grew up in So CAL where everything was mild. You'd think Florida would remain warm all year but the winters suck! Keep your heat on honey. You deserve it. After all, you no longer have all the fat that used to keep you warm.

Um, Chandra, the reason you need the heater this winter when you didn't need it last winter probably has to do with the fact that you have less built-in personal insulation...

I'm finding I'm cold much more often than in the past, at this size...

Mmmmm... I would love some of that.

I have no idea what red hot thai curry orzo is. Sounds like something you could soak Cooper's feet in to warm them up! emoticon

Stay safe and warm during this winter. You deserve to be spoiled a little after all the walking you have done in that cold snow. Keep that heat on! It doesn't help any that they keep taking your blood! emoticon

Was nice and sunny here, no snow or wind. Stay snug and warm during the snow fall. We did a nice short walk today after Jim got home for work.
