Christmas Traditions

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

My family doesn't have much traditions...we kind of "go-with-the-flow" each year. The only traditions that are repeated every year...

1. First and foremost, the kids are not allowed to wake me and hubby before 7:00 am. and believe me, they are waiting at the bedroom door for the clock to hit 7. I know they are there, I just never let them think I'm awake. It's funny to hear them whispering in the hall-way.

2. Then, first opening...the stockings. Tradition is to receive socks and underware in the stockings. Along with chocolates. Wierd combination, but everyone enjoys.

The few weekends before Christmas Day are set aside for extended family get-togethers. Gift exchanges and dinners. Christmas Day is reserved for relaxing, left-overs and a quiet day with my hubby & kids.

Best wishes to all for a wonderful holiday and an exciting New Year.

lol That's funny that you make them wait until 7 am before they can wake you up even though you are already awake but they don't know it! We always opened what was in the stockings first too. We never got underwear, at least not that I can remember, in ours but the gifts were usually small and minor. Getting together with other family members earlier in the month is a great way to kind of spread it out so that everything isn't happening all at once. Great family traditions! emoticon

Underwear was always the first present we were handed to open - I used to wonder why Santa always brought it to our house!
Thanks for sharing your memories.

I love the making the kids wait until 7. When my kids were little it was me waking them up because I was so excited. Ha Ha. Now I find that really strange, but I miss those days too. It is awesome that Christmas day is saved for your family to relax. I know a few families that could use that tradition. Anyway, wonderful memories and traditions.

Making the kids wait till 7 is a wonderful idea and something they will always remember doing. Chocolate, socks and underwear in the stockings is a fun combination! Doing all the family parties and get togethers early is smart so you can relax with your hubby and kids on Christmas Day!
