Fitness Gifts Review

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

My new Bosu came with a dvd with cardio, ab, and yoga workouts. The verdict: I'm far too out of shape to benefit from the advanced aerobic workout. I'll be keeping my feet on the ground for a little while longer. But the ab and yoga workouts look good. So yay!

I had a few issues with the camera recognizing my movement on the PS3 Zumba game. If I can figure out how to work around that, it's a heck of a workout...I just managed to get through the tutorials that cover the basic dance moves! Whew! So, that might have some staying power in the rotation.

My favorite item is one I didn't even ask for. EA Active 2..another PS3 game. I had an earlier version of this on the wii. I had major camera issues with that setup because it wasn't designed for a big screen tv. This newer version for the other console has quite a few upgrades, primarily multiple sensor straps and a heart rate monitor. Nice game with 2 built in workouts: a 21 day cardio program and a longer 9 week ultimate workout. I started the 9 week workout using medium intensity. The Day One workout was under 30 minutes, but I'm feeling it today! Many of the exercises simulate an activity, like mountain biking or shooting hoops...a nice trick to challenge your body without feeling like work.
