This Christmas, I have received my rite of passage and officially entered womanhood.
I GOT A KITCHENAIDE STAND MIXER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, y'all know how I like to cook scratch-made healthful meals and now I can step it up to next level. I'm so freaking excited!! I love my Mama. I thought I was going to have to wait until I got married to have this coveted piece of machinery, but now it's mine forever and ever.
Another intangible Christmas present that has been wonderful is something I got for myself... my weight loss! All my friends have been commenting left and right about how I look. For me, it's been so gradual that I couldn't really tell that I looked that differently unless I put on an old pair of pants or something. But all I've heard is how much weight I've lost.
My eating has been crap since I left. Sunday night I hit the beers and snack food pretty hard when were hanging out with old friends. Monday was the Seafood Feast with my parents, and I thoroughly indulged there too. Christmas day I had plenty of cookies, sausage balls, nuts, and leftover sushi. But today I'm definitely back on the wagon. I'm treating it as January 1st, a clean slate.
I'm looking forward to all the New Years resolution health-hype that's about to happen. It really makes it easy to eat well and exercise with constant reminders all around. Plus, no one will be pushing cookies in my face any longer.
I just took advantage of my parents' home gym. I did a workout that I could never do at my gym, circuit training with active recovery. I did five minutes on the treadmill, followed by five minutes of lower body dumbbell and resistance band exercises. Five more minutes of treadmill, then five minutes of stability ball ab work. Repeat 2x. Tomorrow I'll see if I can unearth the Bowflex from the dust tomb it's been living under. It's sad my parents don't use all this cool stuff they have. But honestly, if I had all of this equipment at my house, I probably wouldn't use it either. I get too distracted, I'm the type that needs to go to a gym to stay focused.
It's an awfully rainy day here by the coast. My nephew hasn't become bored of his Nintendo yet, but I imagine I'll have to come up with something entertaining for him to inside. And here he comes running up the stairs... toodles!
