Christmas with walking pneumonia

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

So I was sick a couple of days last week, and the doctor said I could go back to work Friday, which I did, and felt OK. Then my fever started to spike again over the weekend, and had drag myself to work to finish payroll. I was really dragging, called my doctor for an appointment, got in at noon and was diagnosed with walking pneumonia.

So I missed our family get together yesterday, but the silver lining there was not watching my nordic family eat lutefisk. Plus the lack of eating junk. It was a bummer though not to be able to visit my mom in the nursing home on Christmas eve as I had wanted, since the doctor suggested that I stay away from seniors whose immune systems are weakened, which describes my place of employment, so I can't go back to work until next week.

"Santa" brought the family an XBox with kinect, and I sit here watching my 14yo getting good at the sports game. I tried the bowling, and was winded and needed a nap after 3 games.

I've drank lots of seven up, and mosty eat crackers - I just don't feel like eating anything. I know 7up is a no-no, but the only thing that seems to settle my stomach. So my Christmas dinner has consisted of crackers, rice, and 7up. And I still try to get my water in.

I suppose it could be worse. I could have the full blown pneumonia that I had about 12 years ago and spent 3 days in the hospital. So I just hope this latest batch of "strong" antibiotics will break it all up,

Hope everyone else had a merry Christmas.

I know what you feel like, so, resting is the best thing that you can do for yourself and don't push yourself to fast or you will relapse and get really bad.
