Give me Some Slack!!!

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

It is Christmas, it only comes once a year, and I cook all my favorite Christmas goodies. I am making turkey breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, collard greens with bacon, biscuits and pumpkin pie. I had a small 1 & 7/8 oz bag of chips and a diet coke. I had a little Christmas candy while I waited for my Christmas Dinner to cook. I eat this dinner around 1:00, I eat one serving. Then around 5:30 I have one more serving and my slice of pie.

I savor every bite I eat and enjoy it as much as anyone can. I only get meals like this two times a year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I go over my calorie allotment for the day on these two days. The other days of the year I eat with in my calorie allotment most days. Last year I did not eat like this, I pigged out from Thanksgiving until January. I gained 10 pounds. With eating right and exercise I took those 10 pounds off and a few more before Thanksgiving came around again. This year I gained 4 pounds after Thanksgiving and have already taken that off and then some.

I am giving myself some slack today. Not going to obsess about how many calories and how much fat is in my food. I am going to enjoy every bite. I am going to enjoy the company of my Hubby and friends. I am going to enjoy my holiday, it only comes once a year. It is not how much you eat between Thanksgiving and Christmas that you need to worry about , it is how much you eat between Christmas and Thanksgiving.

    Great planning!
I don't believe in obsessing over food or exercise, to have either constantly on your mind will eventually do you in!
Moderation in both will get you there.
Happy New Year, you'll do good between now and next Thanksgiving with your way of thinking!

Most of us slip up more during the course of a years time. You will recover and be fine. Enjoy your holiday. It does not come around often. I hope you had a good time today. Your blog shows how much you have grown in your attitude about eating from Thanksgiving until January. Limiting it to the two days.
