Considering all the things that happened to me this year, I'll take it!
At the beginning of the year, I set a very, very aggressive fitness goal for myself - 20,000 fitness minutes. I knew it would be a real stretch goal, but given my love of cycling, and all the opportunities I have for going on real long rides in the spring, summer, and even early fall, I really thought I could do it.
Then ..... the April crash, which took me out of circulation for about 16 weeks.
The priorities took a real sudden change. No longer was I worried about fitness minutes, but I was focused on doing everything the doctor ordered to heal my pelvis fractures the right way as quickly as I could.
I got back out on the bike for the first time in mid-July, and by October I had worked my way back to a 4 day cross-country bike trip. Then I got sidetracked in November and most of December with finishing up my dissertation.
The pelvis fracture is healed, the dissertation is done (for the most part), and now it's time to get back to real serious fitness and some serious weight loss once again. So I am going to re-focus my efforts for 2013, and set another stretch goal of 15,000 fitness minutes. If I stay healthy, I should get there.
