Today our church lit the fourth candle in the wreath the angel candle for the messengers that told the gospel and that God keeps His promises.
At home, the father lights the fourth candle that is the HOPE candle with the side panels of Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end; sheaves of wheat symbolizing fulfillment of promises; rising sun to show the new dawn of hope; and the lily a symbol of new life in the resurrection
And then on Christmas Eve or some churches do it for their Christmas program the center candle - usually white or Gold - is lit - This is the Christ candle. I like to burn the white center candle during our Christmas dinner or all day Christmas day if it is safe [no little children running or throwing things about and no tissue paper near by etc]
