How do I put workout in everyday activity? I am fortunate to have a job that makes it easy. I work for a cleaning service. My favorite accounts are commercial, factories, banks, apartment buildings. The houses are ok, but much more stressful. My favorite workout is the apartments. Unless I am carrying a full caddy and a vacuum, I use the stairs instead of the elevator. Three floors up and down is great cardio, and my pants are ready to fall off again. LOL Then I go up and down vacuuming the two sets of stairs to third floor.
The biggest and hardest job I have right now is 8 apartment buildings with much walking in between them all. Sixteen sets of stairs total. Up and down each set at least twice every time. Add the four laundry rooms, and my workout is complete! I try to race up the stairs and down as fast as possible. This is fine for about the first four buildings, after that my racing is pretty slow. By the last building, I am walking.
I try to park as far away from buildings as is realistic when shopping, going to library, bank etc. The little extra steps might just make a difference. Sometimes I get to see someone or do something that I might have missed had I parked closer. Those times are a bonus!
Taking the stairs instead of elevator has just been my choice for years.
People think I'm sort of crazy, but I run whenever possible. From the car to my mom's apartment, from car to store, you get the picture. I actually like to run, but don't get to do it just for workout very often, so I do it when I can. The looks I get from some people is pretty amusing.
I move fast when working, so have a bit of extra time to do things like take two trips hauling recycling bins and still make bid time. Yes, my jobs are billed hourly, and making bid time is goal.
This is my daily workout, and I love it.
