Packing differently

I've never packed a suitcase quite like this before. My daughter and I are heading west for the holidays, and packing for this particular trip has been an eye-opener.

One suitcase is for gifts and stocking stuffers. Most of the gifts are handmade knitted items, and I felt a great deal of satisfaction as I realized I'd knit enough goodies for my family to fill an entire suitcase! There's a lot of love in that yarn.

The second suitcase is for my daughter. She'll take care of packing that one herself.

The third is mine, and it's looking different than I expected. Over half of it is filled with exercise clothes: shoes, socks, exercise pants, sports bras, exercise tops, and a sweatshirt. That stuff takes up a lot of room! And I plan to use every bit of it.

For the remaining half, there are the two new "reward" skirts that fit, along with several tops to go with each and two pairs of shoes -- one more casual, one more dressy. Jammies, underwear, and toiletries round out the rest. That's it.

For the plane, some healthy snacks, a water bottle, a book, and lots of knitting.

Looking at it all today, I can't help but smile. This is a very different packing profile than the last time I flew out there for a 10-day trip. That time, I didn't even bring walking shoes! This time, I am prepared to go to my mother's gym, and on the days I don't, I'll take a vigorous walk around their neighborhood. Or go hiking with my sister and brother-in-law.

If all goes as planned, I'll come home feeling as good as when I left ... and that will be a holiday very well spent!

    That sounds awesome! I'll be interested in hearing if you get to take your knitting needles on the plane though. Y'know, you might be labeled as a "yarn terrorist!"

    Happy and very Mary Xmas for you and your daughter as well ! If you are traveling by air, Be aware of over pack in the suits case. As my hubby got over pack in his suits case and we had to pay $50- dollar over weight fee at airlines check in counter. :(

Previously, I've mention to him about it but..he did not take Sirius and here we go... with that $50- bucks I could buy lots of nice veggies and fruits.. But at least, I am enjoying my trip now. I am in NC. Tomorrow, I am heading to MD for my sons place. I am very excited to see him and his family. :)
