I have been out of control

Sunday, December 23, 2012

Hey Team,

So this past weekend has been and is our family Christmas weekend. Santa came to our house Friday night!!!!

On Friday I worked most of the day but anticipated getting out of work early. I didn't bring food with me - so by 2 pm I hadn't eaten anything. I was supposed to have lunch with my husband but when I got home he was sleeping because he worked a 24 hour shift the day before...so I waited for him to wake up which was around 4. In the mean time, I was starving so I started munching on almonds. When he did get up and ready we had some running around to do and we had to pick up both the girls. We stopped at Subway quickly and I got a 6 inch buffalo chicken sandwich. Under 300 calories.

We picked up both of the girls separately and stopped by Kmart quickly to grab a few things...which we didn't find what we needed. As we are leaving the store we see an ATM card in the parking lot. We decided to bring it to the bank and left it there for the person so no hoodlums would get ahold of it. So we got home much later than expected.

Because of our little one, we had to make cookies for Santa. So I baked a batch of mint chocolate chip cookies. I ate one and some of the batter. Not sure how to count that....

I was able to stop after 9:30 at night and by then I was also tired. The calores I took in for the day were not great and I could feel it.

Saturday we had our Christmas presents to unwrap, and we had a late breakfast. My husband made pancakes and sausage. I had 3 sausage links and one pancake. I used 0 calorie syrup and had a coffee with no sugar. Within an hour I was hungry again. My day was just off....after two hours of being hungry I ate another pancake with out any syrup...kinda picking because I didn't sit down to eat it. I then had to do grocery shopping and ate one of Santa's cookies on my way out the door.

After a couple stops at stores and a run in with the grocery store I was home and it was getting late. I bought groceries for Monday for another family Christmas - but I didn't have anything for last night so we all went out for pizza (the number one choice of food for the girls) so that became our special Christmas dinner. We then drove around town and looked at houses that were decked up in lights! It was a nice experience :)

Now I am at Sunday morning - another day feeling frazzled. I need to put a plan together for today so I don't eat poorly. I have some preparation for food to do to be ready for tomorrow and I have some cookies to bake with the girls for tomorrow. At this point, I amnot worried about Monday. I think the food choices will be good enough that I can make good choices. I just gotta get through today.

I also need to get some exercise in, maybe that will make me feel a lot better about the craziness of this weekend.

Hang in there, Sharon. Keep working your plan - and don't worry too much about the occasional lapse.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

This is the time of year that our healthy eating goes out the window because we are not planning--me included. We are rushing to fit everyting in and we forget to plan for ourselves. I am doing the same thing. A week of vacation and eating out every night, then home and rushing around for the holiday, we have had fast food for the last week. Ugh, it has been 2 weeks since I cooked.

I need to get back on track, come with me and we will make the journey together.

I think you hit the nail on the head. We're (yes me too) failing because we did not plan. This is not our first rodeo. We knew that it's a hectic time of year, yet once again we think we're superwoman and we can handled it without planning. NOT! So you have the right idea to get through the rest of season. I wish you luck and a great plan.

I am in the same boat. With a hectic schedule and holiday treats abound, it has been difficult to eat healthy. I have had plenty of sweet treats and fast food. In fact, I have gone over on my calories three times in the past week. I feel guilty because I was doing so well. Thank you for you post and letting me know I am not alone in this struggle. The holidays will soon pass and hopefully we can get back on track!

It sounds like you have been crazy busy! Food prep sounds like a great idea. If you can get a plan into place beforehand, it'll be easier to eat in a way that will make you feel better! I like to make sure I have some things in the fridge that are easy to grab, and healthy. One of my favorites are those little yoplait light yogurts :) I also keep a tub of pre-cut grapefruit in the fridge. I think it's either Del Monte or Dole that does all the work. I find them in the refridgerated fruit area of my grocery store. Not everyone is a grapefruit fan, though!

I hope the rest of the holidays are fun for you and your family :) Just a few more days, and the rest of the world turns back to normal. I've been waiting for it, because I know food choices will be easier!

THIS TIME OF YEAR IS TOUGH TO GET EVERYTHING DONE.
MAYBE SCHEDULE EXERCISE, IF YOU CAN, JUST LIKE OTHER PRIORITIES.
ONE DAY, ONE MINUTE, ONE MEAL AT A TIME
