Our son was a really good artist in school.
He painted a mural on the high school wall of the Moxie commercial. I never liked or really knew what Moxie was but I did discover it was a very popular drink when we first came to Maine.
One of his teachers drank bottles of it and our son was given permission to paint the mural on the wall of this teacher’s room, DH and I went in to view it and he did a really great job of it.

Fast forward to now.
The high school was replaced on another site. The oldest part of the school was put on the historic register when our youngest son was in school. The more recent part of the school was demolished and alas that was where the mural was.

I never look at a soda Aisle in the grocery store and I have not seen Moxie around for a very long time.

However. in the fall I noticed a name on my Spark page and it had the word MOXIE in it. I wrote on the page and since then that person and I have become friends.
I already have another friend where the new friend lives so tomorrow if the weather permits we will all get together in Belfast on the coast and we will all go out and have lunch. We rarely eat out so it makes it even more special.

This will be DH and my treat for the season. We have no-one around and so I have not bothered to decorate, it most likely would have made me sad.
Now we have a Spark meet of our own tomorrow noon so I am really hoping there will be no snow.
We shall see.
After all this is winter in Maine. And this is where the ski slopes are.

Pat in Maine has a highlight in our life.
Thanks and Happy Holidays to Spark people where ever you are, who ever you are and enjoy your selves as much as you can. Every day is a new adventure if you want to make it that way.

Ok Pat, I've caught up reading your blogs. I hope you're out with friends, not getting snowed upon and enjoying lunch. How's your leg holding up where you banged it?
Is Fred's surgery in january? My friend had knee surgery a couple years ago and said he couldn't imagine recovery without the raised seat you can get for the toilet, just fyi.
It's been nice to read your blogs again. The holiday planning I do for the women is all done, I'm off the hook and now I'm catching up with myself. I'll be working at the family shelter on monday and tuesday, which just means hanging out with the ones who are there. I'll have lots of down time to see what you're up to. emoticon

Have a great time with your Spark Friends and a great lunch. This is my 7th Christmas alone since my husband had his stroke and the first Christmas since that I have joined in on the festivities. I am still deciding if I will go to the potluck Christmas day to eat with those of us who have no place to go.

My oldest son did call me the other day. He is the only one I hear from, one out of five.

We might get some snow Christmas Day. Right now it is just light rain but a huge storm is moving in Christmas Eve.

HUGS and Merry Christmas, Pat, and to your DH too. I hope you have a wonderful time meeting your friends.

I know exactly what you mean. With DH not coming home I really have not decorated a lot. I did some, of course, for DD and DH. I do have the tree up and will keep it up till DS comes home (that is SUPPOSED to be in January sometime, we HOPE! Trying not to get too excited, because there is ALWAYS a change or glitch. )

    HUGS coming your way.

    Merry Christmas Pat...
Glad you and Fred will be meeting some more Spark Friends but it makes me sad when you say you have not bothered to decorate just because there are only the two of you!
There are only the 2 of us here as well but I would never dream of not decorating outside and inside for Christmas~because I love every bit of it! I do it for me and not for anyone else~~ even Alex would not be bothered as he is a bit of a Bah Humbug! emoticon
