7000 is the new 5000

Saturday, December 22, 2012

I've had over 7000 steps for 4 of the last 5 days, and the day I had my root canal was 6800. So I'm really levelling up my activity. That's what's important in the end, about a tracking device, is old me vs. new me. And besides Sunday, I've been over 2000 calories burned everyday, plus nursing. So, pretty awesome. I've also been doing my fitness earlier in the day.

Today I saw a challenge from sparkguy to share my goals, and it's good to keep them in front of myself. My main fitness goal is to build my upper body strength to the point I can do a pullup. Along with that, I am working on my lean body mass through calorie cycling. And one I really could use some motivation on is moving toward 8 freggies a day. My freggie intake has really taken a hit with the holiday rush. I have adopted a fast break goal to cook a new healthy recipe each week, so I guess I'll find one that is veggie focused.

I did finally get a Christmas tree last night. I had fallen asleep after an afternoon shopping trip (I had been up early with the baby's head cold). It would have been really easy to bag it for another day, but I went out at 8:30 and got one. We need to trim some more branches before we can decorate it. So there was more that I could have done but didn't, but I think that extra trip made the difference in my step total.

Great keep up the steps even if you've not been feeling your best. That is when the truth comes out. Have a great holiday seaon and keep well!

You rock! All that activity with a new baby?! Wow!

Hope you make your strength goal. I never could do a pull-up or even a bent-arm body hang, because every single time I did, from college ROTC days on, I ended up with a pinched nerve in my neck. My goal is to bench 80 pounds for more than 1 rep. I did 85 for one rep with serious spotting by my trainer, but I want to work up to benching 80 consistently for at least 3 reps.
