Non Scale Motivation For Exercise

Friday, December 21, 2012

emoticon My initial motivation when I joined Curves was just to Keep Walking and remain Independent. The Weight Loss was a Very Happy Surprise!
But there are times ~ Like NOW, for Me ~ when the Scale is not cooperative. emoticon.
Either it is not going Down as fast as we'd like, Or it isn't moving at all, Or it has gone UP!!
This is the time that it is Most Important that we keep reminding ourselves of Why We NEED To Exercise.

emoticon It boosts Memory. Studies have shown that after One Year of 3 Times a Week Workouts Age Related Brain Shrinkage was REVERSED!
emoticon It can keep Colds away. A Study out of the Appalachian State University showed that Exercising at Moderate Intensity 5 Times a Week might reduce your chance of catching an Upper Respiratory Tract Infection by 40%!
emoticon It Fights Disease. In a recent study with Mice, Exercise actually spurred cells to clean themselves. This helped reduce Metabolic Problems and might explain why Exercisers may be less likely to suffer from some types of Cancer, and Diabetes.
emoticon Depression symptoms are often relieved by Exercise as well by Exercise as by Medication, sometimes even BETTER Than by Traditional Therapy!!

emoticon I know there are MANY Other Reasons to Exercise, especially as we get older. Please feel free to add your Non Scale Motivations for Exercising and Eating Right.

And basic health: I think I have fewer aches and pains when I participate in exercise on a regular basis.
