Bleeeeh, I skipped my workout last night in order to last minute present shopping. Now I feel like crap. My brain is antsy and my body is sluggish. I MUST do a full-out, give it all I've got workout tonight before I spend all day tomorrow sitting in a car.
I know I'm going to get more than a few comments on my weight loss from my friends and family, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited for everyone to see my new physique. However, I wouldn't feel like I deserved all the praise if I felt like a sack of potatoes from too much sitting. So, in addition to the oil change, laundry, packing, and cleaning up I'll need to cram in a hard-core gym session. Luckily I can stay up as late as I need since the BF will be driving first shift tomorrow morning. Atlantic Ocean... I am coming for YOU.
I'm not stressing about getting my workouts in while I'm out of town. Mom has a treadmill, and Daddy has a Bowflex, Stability Ball, and dumbbells. My old neighborhood is great for running outside, and Mom's cooking is very health conscious.
We've developed a new family tradition of having a seafood feast on Christmas. I imagine that post-dinner my cholesterol will be through the roof, but my calories will be just fine (as long I go for cocktail sauce instead of lemon butter!). And bonus, there won't be any high-calorie leftovers hanging around all week. Much better than a traditional turkey/ham dinner.
I've just got make sure I keep a few hundred calories tucked away each day for drinks. I'm sure Mom and I will break into the wine, and we'll probably go out with old friends almost every night.
I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE MY NEPHEW. He's the coolest kid I know and I just love spending time with him. He's 7 and incredibly smart and creative. Ever since the horrible event a week ago I've been dying to give him a huge hug and kiss, and appreciate that our first grader is healthy, safe, and happy.
The only person who isn't excited about this trip is Charleigh dog. She's never entirely comfortable away from home, and my parents' yippy schnauzers don't make it any easier on her. I'm bringing her presents along so hopefully her new squeaky tiger will keep her entertained. And I'll let her sleep on my bed when my parents aren't looking. Lol.
I imagine that I'll have enough downtime to crank out a blog or two while I'm away, so I'll post updates on how my out-of-town training is coming along. My race is 1 1/2 weeks away!
