Planning for 2013

2012 was an amazing year for me. I know that I have mentioned it a million times already but I am going to say it a million more. I LOST 40 POUNDS this year :) !

I still can't believe it.

My husband can pick me up and I don't panic that I will break his back, instead it is exhilerating to know that he can lift me effortlessly.

My brother is coming home from Florida tonight and I can't wait until he sees me. I am also so excited about attending my big family party. A lot of them have not seen me since last Christmas and I can't wait. I won't be the big girl in the family anymore.

I only have 12 more pounds to go before I am at my goal weight. So this year my goal is to tone up while I lose the rest. Exercise is scary for me. I have done it in spits and spurts. I play with the kids. I love to get on the trampoline with them, especially now that I know I wont break it. But I need to get more serious about it. I need to add a daily routine.

Way back when I used to wake up every morning and stretch my muscles and do a mini exercise routine of situps, push ups, side bends and a few other quick moves before I got ready for work in the morning. I am going to add this to my early morning routine once again.

After that I am still not sure. I used to do workout routines that my On Demand cable company provided a few times a week. I think I will do this again. I liked it, I had fun, and felt good.

Since I am going to quit smoking (again) or as a spark friend suggested I will become a Non-smoker this year, I need to replace a bad habit with a good one and exercise will surely be a good replacement.

I am publicly committing to doing this at least three times a week.

I love my body the way it is now, but I still wont be comfortable in a bathing suite because it is still so flabby. I know that I will never get rid of the ugly pouch hanging from my stomach but I can tighten up the rest of me.

I have watched a few Zumba routines, and man they look fun but wow they look extremely difficult.

I am still worried about being hungry after a workout. Are there any tricks out their that any of you use to quench hunger after a workout? I am really going to need help with this.

    You are awesome. Great attitude, great accomplishments. These things go hand in hand.

I have talked to a trainer and a nutritionist both telling me the same thing, you should eat after your work out. You want a combo of a healthy fat, carb and protein (i.e. apple with peanut butter; boiled egg & toast; etc.) See this link that may help w/ ideas:

    I am so excited for you! You sure gave yourself the best gift this year!

One trick I use to not over eat after exercise is to eat a light breakfast like fruit and/or yogurt. After my workout, I can have the rest like cereal or a protein bar...so I just split up my meal...it works if you do an afternoon workout too..just save some lunch for later. It helps if I plan ahead so I am not tempted to grab something less healthful.

I think your plan for the new year will set you up to reach your goals!
