Last minute Christmas gift! I ran across this free pattern online and just had to make this for my sister-in-law. I have her name for our gift exchange this year and had already gotten her a gift certificate (her choice), but that isn't too fun on my part. They have an old VW van, so I thought they would enjoy this.
It was a kick to make. I used bright colors, and tried to get some fab, retro, psychedelic designs in there. I even had some fabric that had gold and silver stripes in it, so it worked out great for the tires.
On the front side, I did a fun paisley sorta quilting to add to the effect. The backside is pieced with two complimentary fabrics and straight-line quilted across.
All in all, it was a fun project and only took a few hours. Seemed like a snap compared to making quilts!
Oh - sssshhhhh. Don't tell my sil that you know what she's getting for Christmas. Don't want to ruin the surprise!
We are headed out today for a big family get together this weekend. My in-laws are having their 60th wedding anniversary and we're throwing them a big party tomorrow in Boise. And then our kids will be coming back home with us for Christmas. Jessica's bringing her boyfriend home, and Scott's bringing his puppy dog home, so it should be a nice houseful and just good to spend time with them all.
Since I won't be back online for awhile, my wish for you all is to have a Merry Christmas and enjoy great blessings throughout the coming year.
