i am setting a goal for myself......

Friday, December 21, 2012

I have decided to finally set a goal for myself. i have had little goals but this one is a big one. I want to be under 200 by Feb 1st. this is the first official goal i have used a date with. im 16 pounds away from this goal so i do see it as obtainable. but i know how life is. I so badly want to be able to tell people im under 200 it will feel amazing! im gonna start cracking down on myself again and start doing what i need to be doing again. And since i have my fitbit now it will be easier to track how much food i should be eating with the calories im burning.

Thanks everyone. And i do realize how hard it will be but i think i can do it and even if i come close its good enough for me because im already down 32 pounds of my 83 pound goal! im 51 pounds away and i know that if i can lose 32 pounds i can lose 51 more! very happy either way and im going to try my best to make this goal it will make me feel so good :)

Hi there - how are you doing?

So 16 pounds in...that's 31 + 10...41 days. Basically 16 pounds in 6 weeks. That's 2.6 pounds per week. That's certainly possible but is a fairly aggressive rate. Not trying to discourage you at all, just thinking about the caloric deficit required. That's about 1300 calories below your maintenance level each day on average. Certainly possible - 1000 calories cut on the food intake and probably 30-40 minutes of brisk walking would do it. But it will take some consistent effort. I personally don't make "weight with a date" goals because I can't really control how much I'll lose from week to week. I can, however, control what I put in my mouth and the level of activity I have each day. Just a thought.

Make sure you are focusing on good eating and tracking your food - you probably do this already but just a reminder.

The fitbit sounds interesting. A few folks have blogged about it. I've considered one myself. I'll be interested to hear about what you think about it.

I look forward to hearing about your progress.

Make it a great day!
Matt

Rather than focus on whether or not you lose X pounds by Y date, I hope you'll consider simply taking pride in however much you lose. This is hard work; it requires constant renewal of the commitment, so celebrate all you do well as you go through the process.

Best of success to you.
