You get out of it, What you put into it!

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Four years ago, I lost 60+ pounds and regained it back the following year. I told myself that it was okay. I could simply lose it again once I decided too. That is when my weight loss journey truly begun. I lost, and gained weight several times over the next few years. Never really losing more than 25 pounds. Honestly, I have probably have had a half of dozen Sparkpeople pages in the process.

In March of 2012, I heard about a weight loss support group called TOPS. I joined the local chapter full of motivation. I lost 14 pounds in a month and like so many others, I allowed myself to get distracted with my every day life. I went from attending my every Thursday's meeting to attending every once in awhile. I went from losing weight routinely to gaining weight. Truthfully, I was not really giving 100%. Then I read a blog where a fellow SP said, "You get out of it, What you put into it." I finally understood the entire concept. If I truly wanted to lose this weight. I had to put forth the energy, and effort.

I AM FAT. Yes, It described me but it doesn't dictate who I am. So, It was time to do something about it. I started a new SP page, and have found some wonderful teams. I started going back to my TOPS meeting. I have lost 9+ pounds in two weeks. I am more active than I've been in ages. I am happier, and healthier. In March, I was 308 pounds. Now I am rocking 285 pounds. My goal is to reach the 270's January 3RD. I have not mastered weight loss. There is still so much more I need to learn. However, I have learned one thing. You get out of it what you put into it. You move, You lose!

You are absolutely right!! I like you have been here before. Not on sp but I have tried my fitness pal for numerous times!! And I never really lost but maybe 5-10 lbs! Because I was not giving it my all. I really want this now,And I am going to do it. I dont care if it takes me 2 yrs! that is my problem,I want results like now...And I get impatient and burn out quick. Now i just have it in my mind that this is a lifestyle change and it is not going to happen over night....but eventually I will get there!!
Lets keep cheering each other on!! emoticon emoticon

My sister once asked me what was my secret.

"Pretty simple. Really no secret. Get up off your ass and stop stuffing your face."

"Well that's kind of harsh."

"Yeah, reality bites." I lost my 100. She has and encyclopedia why she hasn't even started. Not my job to do anything but be an example of what could be.

It is so true, I know I have to try harder to get back on track myself because I have been letting the busy days of Christmas as an excuse and it had meant a 4 lb. weight gain :(
