There is no explanation

No words to make us understand

The senselessness and the evil

And its everlasting toll



There are not enough tears

When we think of the children

The ringing out of gunfire

The life-changing terror

The noises, and the blood

Seared into their pristine minds

Innocence lost

Forever



There is not enough admiration

For the heroes in the school

Who chose to protect their charges

And paid with their lives

Teaching in their deaths

Lasting lessons to us all

Of sacrifice

And love



There is no explanation

No words to make us understand

But there is Faith

And Hope

And there is God

Now with an army of angels

To watch over us forever
