8 paperclips to go!

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

When I began with SparkPeople in October, I started putting together a chain of paperclips. As each pound came off, I added one paperclip to the chain to represent each pound that's gone forever.

They're hanging from a lamp over my desk. I have to move them in order to turn that lamp on and off, so I see them and touch them every day.

There are 17 paperclips hanging there right now.

Today, I placed 8 more paperclips in a separate container on my desk where I can see them. Those represent the pounds that will go away by the time I reach my first goal.

It's a good reminder for me.

I'm want to do something really special with that chain of 25 paperclips when I reach my goal . . . . Any ideas?

Love the visual. I have things around to remind me of my motivation but not my accomplishments.
Maybe you could assign each clip a dollar value and buy/earn yourself a piece of jewelry or something that will remind you of your success.
You are doing great! Love your enthusiasm.

I really love the concept. What a wonderful visual. And the fact that you have to move it everyday to use the lamp is a nice reminder on how much you have accomplished.

We learn so much from everyone here; what a great ideal! I know your question is what to do with the paperclips; as others have stated; I have no clue but I love the concept. This is such a wonderful motivator, pure genius. Thanks for sharing; and once you find out what to do with the paperclips, please share. Good luck!

What a great, (almost) no-cost idea! As for what do do with them, you could Google paperclip art, paperclip jewelry, or paperclip tricks.

Paperclips are a cute idea, I have also seen the marble jars:

One jar has marbles in it with pounds lots, and then the other has marbles in it with pounds to lose..

It's always great when there are more "pounds lost" than pounds to lose.

Wow...that is a fantastic idea for a visual!

Maybe stitch them on a sweatshirt spelling out the numbers 25.
