Trying to stay in shape despite my medications

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

My md changed my diabetic meds and for the last 10 days I have been almost non-functional. I finally quit yesterday without the md's knowledge. I tried to reach him, but, he was out of the office.

This morning most of the nasty side effects had cleared up, so I was able to start working out again. What is discouraging is that fter the holidays are over with I have to have more hand surgery. Which means more time off from working out.

Ah well, I am just going to work out when I can and not worry about what I can't do. This is my version of the Serenity Prayer.

It's definitely worthwhile for you to focus on other parts of your journey while you're recovering. Even after hand surgery you can mindfully pay attention to what you're eating, work out the rest of your body besides your hands/arms, find some new motivational cues (quotes, photos, etc), or even learn some new relaxation techniques.

Wow, I don't know what med you had, but it certainly sounds like it wasn't the right one for you!

I think your version of the Serenity Prayer should work fine!
