My daughter, who just read "The Hobbit," reminded me that hobbits like to have two breakfasts, preferably bacon and eggs. She liked this idea so much she did it herself today (we home school and she trains for swimming so she has a healthy appetite). So the question must be posed ... did hobbits eat paleo? Do we have records of the incidence of diabetes, coronary disease, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, etc. among the hobbit population? Was the "Dark Lord" Monsanto (and if so, has he returned?). Questions, questions ....
Actually, I think they liked cake, drank ale (made with barley), and smoked a lot, so maybe they're not the nutritional and health role models I was hoping for ... but lovable nonetheless.
OK, back to my own progress today ... stayed on the straight and narrow, I believe. Breakfast was raw milk yoghurt, banana, nuts, and tea and coffee. Lunch - sardines and carrots (ok, unusual, but legitimate paleo). Snack of almonds and raisins. Dinner -ground beef with garlic and onions, red cabbage, a glass of red wine, and tea and a bite of chocolate. Hard to believe it's now been more than five weeks and going strong!
