Thumbs up!

Wow, you guys. I just had an INCREDIBLE workout.

I was planning to test my ankle with a short treadmill run, but I just got in the groove and couldn't stop! My ankle didn't make a peep. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't regret an hour-long run tomorrow.

After cardio, I hit the weight room. It was teeming with dudes, but I think I'm getting slightly less self-conscious when I lift. I only chickened out and modified one exercise, so that's better than usual. The weight room has free weights lined up against the back mirror, but there's a secret lady area set up over by the cable machines. It's a single bench that has 3 to 20 lb weights stacked nearby. I use that one more often than not when I'm working with dumbbells. However, tonight the 20lb weights had disappeared from the lady stack. I went to grab one from the big racks, but all the benches were taken and guys were waiting to work in. I doubted my gym etiquette was up to snuff, so I ran back to my safe bench in the corner. Instead of doing overhead tri extensions with one 20lb weight, I decided to do unilateral extensions with 10lbs on each arm instead. Same diff right?

Today I put my status as "I wish my SparkFriends were my friends in real life," and I mean it. If I had you guys as gym buddies, I would be so much more confident during my workouts. I need a workout buddy so badly! My BF is awesome in motivating me to get moving, but once we're in the gym we go separate ways. We simply have different goals.

Anywho... I'm very happy that my ankle is not showing symptoms anymore. Less than 2 weeks before my race remain, so an injury would make me a sad Sparky.

Ooo! I had a cool moment today when I was grabbing dogfood out of my trunk. I got a 24lb bag of kibble, and I thought about how I've lost OVER the weight of this huge bag. I picked it up and really tried to feel what it used to be like to move around on a daily basis. It took a lot of effort to walk up the steps. I reveled in the fact that I rid myself of that! I'm never going back.

    Yay, congrats on your great workout! You showed that ankle who's boss!

I'm the same way in the weight room. I use the machines so I know I'm doing it right. That way some big buff guy doesn't take notice of me and come correct my form. I would die. {I know, I need to get over that, but... it is what it is. lol}

I bet it felt great to realize you've lost a big bag of dog food. I know that would make me pretty happy!

Hope you have a great Wed!
