I didn't have time to blog yesterday since I spent the evening watching Part III of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. You may remember it from back in 2003 (!) - it was over 3 hours long! My daughter (teen) just discovered the film trilogy after she read "The Hobbit" in preparation for the new film. So she watched Pts 1 & 2 Saturday and we finished it off last night ... back in Middle Earth mentality! Wow! So much to remember and rethink.
But ... today's task is to talk about what I've been doing on my Paleo journey, one whose stakes are a little less extreme than Frodo's quest to destroy the Ring (as far as I can tell, no orcs, no Gollum, no clash of armies ...). But I did head into one more site of possible temptation, going out to lunch to treat my graduate assistant after we finished the semester's course. Fortunately she chose a place where I knew the menu and knew I could get a good burger wrapped in a lettuce leaf. Still haven't figured out how to eat with lettuce without making a mess but that should come with time. (Or I could ask for the elfen leaves in which they wrapped their bread ... wonder if that was gluten-free? It seemed to have marvelous life-giving properties). I also passed on the fries and had salad with oil and vinegar dressing, and an iced tea with lemon. So I think I came out ok.
Somehow I think I foresee a lot of burgers in lettuce wrapping in my future!
The reward was when I came home and my daughter cooked dinner (eggs and broccoli prepared with coconut oil & a touch of red wine) and snacked with date-coconut squares, almonds, a bit of dark chocolate, and spicy tea while watching the movie. Good stuff and fueled me to the gates of Mordor!
