I wanted to write sooner today to tell you all how I did the past few days, but with Christmas coming, it is getting pretty hectic around here. I have to thank you all so much for your encouraging comments and belief in my ability to stick to my goal of not gaining any weight from the parties this past week.
I DID It!!! Last Wednesday's Christmas party was pretty fancy, at a special country club. The food was awesome! I only took one each of two different appetizers to try them and said no to all the others! (Yea me) Heehee Then, for dinner most of the people were ordering rich fillets with even richer sauces, but I choose a black peppered salmon salad! It was delicious! Only one glass of red wine and no dessert! I even impressed myself.
To top off the evening, my husband had reserved a place for us to stay over night, which was unbelievable! He had won this one night stay at a charity auction about a year ago and I had forgotten all about it. When we walked in I almost fainted! There was actually a 16 ft swimming pool in our room, in addition to a jaccuzzi, stream room and an actually "waterfall" over the pool.
He had brought along a bottle of Champaign from home and there were some chocolate covered strawberries on the table.
I enjoyed the complete experience, even though I thought I might have been doomed as far as my goal of not gaining weight. After I got home on Thurs. I checked into SparkCoach and reread your comments then got back into the tracking. I worked out hard and then...Friday's party came.
It was also held at a country club, but was more low key with a band and such. They had a huge bowl of wonderful shrimp which I zeroed in on and made that my main protein for the night. I did have a couple more drinks that I hadn't planned on, but overall I felt pretty good about my decisions. My dh wasn't feeling up to going to the party on Saturday night, so we stayed home. (I was doing cartwheels inside when he told me he didn't really want to go. I didn't either, but thought he did. Communication doesn't always get better even after 34 yrs of marriage.)
The next two days I worked out very well and ate healthy. When I got on the scale this morning I had lost 2 lbs since a week ago!!! I never would have believed I could still succeed, but I did with your encouragement!
You are the greatest support anyone could need!
