I survived eating out Friday and Dinner party on Saturday!

Friday Night - Dinner Out


Our weekend started with a dinner with great friends we've known for many years camping next to us at Long Lake. Neither family went our usual weeks in August. Since we didn't have our annual Christmas party, we arranged to meet for dinner. At first I felt a little bit leery until we decided to meet a T-Bones. Their on-line menu showed multiple choices I could have and stay on target. PHEW! The appetizers were scrumptious and I "allowed" myself a taste of each. I chose the baked haddock with 2 sides of broccoli instead of a starch. It was delicious! I made the right choice for me - dieting or not!


We enjoyed many laughs and caught up with each other's families. She has lost over 80 pounds the old fashioned way - diet and exercise! Good for her!!! She looked absolutely fabulous! We both wore a bit of the sparkly to dinner too! She was completely correct that sparkly makes you feel good!! We are all looking forward to getting together again very soon!!!

Unfortunately for me, though, my day started when I woke shortly after 1am. I had a doctor's appointment to meet my new doctor at 9:30. One of the things we discussed was my sleep problem and the effects it has had on my weight. She suggested taking Melatonin. On Facebook, I asked people what experiences they had with the drug. Mostly positive responses made me more relieved to try it. During my visit, I received a flu shot, a pneumonia shot, and a tetanus shot. On the way home from dinner, we stopped at CVS to pick up some Melatonin which I took on the way home so that, hopefully, I would be quickly off to sleep when we got home. Thankfully, I slept late, but woke with flu like symptoms. They did not prevent us, however, from entertaining the neighbors on Saturday night.

Saturday Night - Dinner with the Neighbors

During the day on Saturday, my arm was sore from the injection site plus I was experiencing some mild flu like symptoms. Now, could my grogginess and feeling of blah be from the shots or the Melatonin or coincidentally from having an unrelated bug? The reason for the unrelated bug is because Mike was a bit under the weather on Sunday along with me. None of these possibilities prevented us from having the neighbors over for dinner and a game of LCR. One couple brought the appetizers and the other couple brought dessert which was a Weight Watchers cheesecake. I made a crockpot meal so that I didn't have to cook while we had company. Everything worked out well. It was quite an enjoyable evening for all of us with lots and lots of laughs. That's a FACT and not CRAP.

Sunday - Day of Recovery

Sunday was spent relaxing and watching Christmas movies. It was quite a different day than it would have been if we had our Christmas party on Saturday night. Along with the Christmas movies, we would have been eating high calorie leftovers the whole day. Instead, we had much healthier choices.

Monday - Day of Reflection and Weigh-In

I was a bit anxious, I admit, about getting on WII this morning. There was lots of mental rehearsal for both nights. (yes, I do remember that from Weight Watchers!) There was anxiety on my part about what to order at dinner and what to serve dinner guests. More at issue were things that I could have absolutely no control over such as a server bringing a very tempting basket of bread and butter to the dinner table at the restaurant. The appetizer could have been a very tempting high calorie dish that I would find extremely difficult to resist. The dessert could have been high calorie and I wouldn't be able to stop eating it!

I watched the WII BMI go up and up and up until it stopped. Strangely, it was lower than my last weigh in on Thursday. Somehow it said I was down 3.3 pounds?@!!??? Well? I did eat extremely light on Friday saving calories for dinner, but I actually did well at dinner. I had flu type symptoms on Saturday and Sunday so barely ate breakfast and lunch. I am expecting an "adjustment" tomorrow morning because today is the first day I've eaten "normally" in 4 days. That's okay, though. It felt good for today to realize that I'm down 40 pounds from 2010!!! AND I put on a size 12 pair of jeans and zipped them up! I couldn't wear them driving, but I could wear them around my room feeling mighty fine. It's silly, but I just kept thinking in my head "NOTHING tastes as good as this FEELS!"
