My Christmas Present Is Surgery!

Monday, December 17, 2012

Merry Christmas to me! I went to see the surgeon today and scheduled my gallbladder surgery for December 26! The best Christmas present. I can't wait. No, really, I can't. Every time I go to the doctor I feel worse. Maybe I should stop going to the doctor! Ha, Ha!

I have been telling people how the sun is always shining here and how we need rain. Well, for the last 5 days it's been cloudy and rainy! Fantastic! It's a light rain so we don't have flooding. My grass is now a nice spring green. Tomorrow the temperature is supposed to be in the 60's. Of course, Christmas is supposed to be cloudy and we might even have snow showers mixed with rain for the 26th, which is odd because the high for the day is 49 degrees and the low is 39 degrees. Isn't that too warm for snow showers? We'll just have to wait and see how accurate that is.

I realized today that my husband is having a difficult time with the change in my diet. I had to lower the amount of fat I'm eating. I try to stay under 25 grams. Usually, my husband eats whatever I eat and then just adds another 300 to 500 calories balancing the carb/fat/protein ratio. The thing is, while he's written down what he's eaten, he didn't put it in the nutrition tracker! Not smart. He made me laugh, though. Now he has to work a little more at getting the right nutritional balance. Poor thing.

I figure I've got two more weeks of eating really low fat and then I should be able to manage what I would normally eat. I'm having a difficult time exercising. I can walk but strength training is out for right now. My side is swollen and there's fluid around my gallbladder. Yuk! So I'm just taking it easy here. I'm not losing weight, but I'm not gaining either. It's not like I'm eating junk food, but I'm not exercising a whole lot either. Hey, I figure I can do 10 minutes a day, right? I walked 20 minutes today!

I know two people who had theirs removed this year and they felt so much better afterwards. I bet you'll be like a new person. Good luck and hope you're comfortable through the holidays.

Not the greatest Christmas present, but hopefully the surgery will help make your New Year brighter. Hang in there, and keep going with the great attitude!

Good luck on your gall bladder surgery. I am getting some periodontal work done also on that day. My wife is having her 2nd carpal tunnel surgery on the 27th. Merry Christmas.
