My best childhood friend and her daughter met me in Dayton for a girls' weekend. My friend, Janet, took a job a couple years ago on O'hau and has been living in Hawaii ever since. We have lived apart for a lot of the forty years that we've been friends, but this has been the hardest and mostly I think it's because of the time difference. I'm going to bed, she's having dinner...
I was thrilled to spend time with her and my goddaughter and since she'd never seen it, I got us tickets to the Nutcracker ballet. I have seen it a few times but it always takes my breath away.
The little girl who played Clara was really good and all the dancers beautiful and elegant. I so wanted to make them PNB sandwiches. I now know what rail thin actually means. Oh my they were tiny. I wish I could be that graceful!
I must admit that my binoculars came in handy! Even if the male dancers were young enough to be my sons, I did enjoy seeing their nicely toned backsides! LOL Does that make me a dirty old woman?! Sigh. Even from the nose bleed seats, I could tell that all their hard work was paying off.
Next to the Sugar Plum Fairy, my favorite part is the momma with the very big dress! LOL
We had such a good weekend and it was wonderful to be in the same time zone! We did some shopping and ate out. On Saturday night, my goddaughter and I played Monopoly and she firmly kicked my backside... then admitted she'd been cheating. Oh! How rude! I think that means she should forfeit, don't you?
Here's the three of us before the show. I am not crazy of this picture of me but we look so happy, that I thought I'd share it.
I really, really need to get back to work on this. Ugh. Maybe setting fresh goals for 2013 might work. Maybe becoming a ballerina... no, the guys won't like that. What IS a male ballerina?
Anyway, hope you have a great week! Go to the Nutcracker if you get a chance!
