Day 16: Your views on mainstream music.
First of all, yes, I know I started this in November, but with the business of Thanksgiving and traveling, this challenge got derailed. So, I thought I’d pick it back up and continue so that it is fully complete by the end of the year.
Now, that being said, back to the topic at hand.
Before I can state my opinion, let’s define what I think of as “mainstream music”. Mainstream music is the type of music you hear on the radio or the TV. Radio stations that have the catch phrase similar to “today’s top music” or think Ryan Seacrest’s station in the LA area. I’d even include Radio Disney because it does play artists who would appear on a top music countdown and the Disney artists would be labeled with the same genre as well and you do hear them occasionally on a top music station.
Okay, now that you know how I define the category, let me say that yes, I’m all for it. In fact, that is the music I listen to. My music taste would go more towards Radio Disney’s music as I do listen to a lot of those Disney stars (Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato …) however, I also include the other artists as well (Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry …).
I also enjoy listening to some country and movie soundtracks. Nope, not a fan of R&B, rap, or punk/heavy metal music, however I’m willing to listen to most music at least once before totally denying it as there are probably some songs I’ve heard that would fall into said categories. But 99% of the time my music falls into the pop or pop/rock category.
