Christmas Dinner with the Grandkids

Christmas Dinner with the Grandkids, and I got "my orders in!" We talked before about traditions, on our Team threads, and this is my tradition from way, way, back!

We all have our favorite meals, Easter Ham (although, not mine), 4th of July burgers, dogs, and BBQ, Thanksgiving turkey, and then CHRISTMAS! Well, my meal is LAZAGNA! I would generally make a "loaded veggie" or/and, ground turkey, or/and cheese! I was generally able to make it ahead, and refrigerate or freeze. Then CHRISTMAS morning, I was able to pull it out, enjoy the morning with the family, then pop it into the oven, with less stress!

As the company arrived, and many times there was as much as 20-25 people at our table!
I would bring out a great tossed salad, garlic bread, and my lazagna. I still laugh to this day, when our wonderful friend, a lovely lady that was named by us, AUNT BEA, came to our home for dinner. That day, we had so many people, I had to open up the french doors to our family room, which adjoined the kitchen, adding "GREEN BED SHEETS" to cover plywood, then layered with a lace tablecloth. The "Table" was set, with mix/match dishes, glasses, and silver. But that day, she walked in and said..."OH, My Goodness, I think I am going to dinner at the WHITE HOUSE!"

Well, the tradition continues! Although this time, our grandkids asked "Mimi to make a VERY CHEESEY, LOTS OF IT, Lazagna!" So how could I NOT!!!! I just finished making it! And it is LOADED! But I blended the cheeses, and cut the calories, by approximately 1/3, if not more!

Oh yeah, we are going to feast on it! But I will not be setting the table, bringing "my sheets" nor my dishes, this I will leave up to my DD and SIL! Yup, it's their turn....I just HAD TO MADE THE GRANDKIDS HAPPY!!!!!! And of course, it will!

    Our big family dinner is Christmas Eve. We have roughly the same number of people. But our tradition is seafood. It started as far back as I can remember. We would all gather at grandma's house until she and grandpa passed. Now the relatives all gather here. Christmas will be quiet here, can you fit in 26? I love Lazagna! Hee hee COMPANY'S COMING FRAN!!

    That sounds like a wonderful tradition! And lasagna is yummy... but when it's made by "Mimi" I'm sure it's even better! Enjoy the time with your grandkids!

    Your lasagna sounds heavenly! I did that for my work crowd for 30 years but now I'm retired so I miss it. I may need to make one and take it to the one's that are still working.
