Back on the scene the gym scene

Sunday, December 16, 2012

Today was my first day back since my 3 month freeze. It was nice to be back and see everyone in WERQ. I went to a Master WERQ class which means some of the people in the class were getting certified in WERQ today but they were taking the actual class before the cert part started. It was started in Chicago and the girl that started it actually taught the class. I have been taking it since it started at my gym probably 2 summers ago and they got on the band wagon pretty close to when it actually started. I think now it might be in a few states out of Illinois. The girls who started it used to teach zumba but they wanted more hip hop and top 40 songs so they had to split off and start their own classes. Zumba is strict on their ratio of what they want their instructors teaching. WERQ has a lot of tush shaking, gyrating and is much faster than zumba. But anyway it was neat to see the creator teach it since she has is so fluid with her movements and direction, you could actually learn a song in 1 class. The other teachers I have had, move so fast, it takes lots of classes to get each song down pat.

I am still not sure if I wanna quit my other 10 dollar gym. It stinks I have a good lifting buddy now but she can't afford the big gym and she only wanted to lift late at night like after dinner. Yet I need the big gym for the classes. I really don't wanna pay 45 bucks a month in gym memberships for both and be running all over town to hit both all the time. I donno what to do yet. The small gym just doesn't have enough. I am so over gym machines unless there's lots of snow on the ground and I am desperate. My husband also got a membership there and he doesn't go unless I drag him with me when my coworker and I lift. He also does not wanna lift at all with me while there like he originally said he would, just into cardio. He also gets no cardio during the week if I don't initiate taking him when I go. He has become a weekend warrior. I guess I will just ride it out and see what happens. I feel like if I am getting pregnant in the next yr I would much rather have the big gym and go to water aerobics than anything else. I saw my old lifting buddy today and we hugged, all is well there. No talk of lifting together. Never a perfect world.

I really wanted to check out WERQ but could not find much about it online other that a youtube video describing it.

The gym decision sounds tough. It sounds like there are advantages both ways. It would be perfect if your lifting friend could join the better gym.

Ugh I think you hit the nail on the head =( I just don't wanna rush it and lose my lifting buddy. Since they are so hard to get someone dependable. But also I don't feel like I do my lifting buddy justice in losing weight. I don't do cardio with her and she just goes to lift now and does no cardio. Cuz I will do my cardio outside running before meeting her. I donno if she cares though.

It sounds like you already know the answer and it saddens you!

I wish places around here offered WERQ; it sounds like a blast! And you know how much I love zumba! I am kind of surprised that you guys have it down there, but we don't have any up here, except like Chicago which as you know, is not super close to me! Boo. Glad you're back at your gym though!

Could you do alternate days? 3 days at one gym, 3 at the other?
