Macronutrient distribution--which is yours?

Sunday, December 16, 2012

I am curious how you distribute your protein, fat, and carbohydrate daily?

The mediterranean diet has about 40% fat I have heard.

One spark member posted, "When I was losing weight effortlessly, my ratios were 40 fat, 40 protein, and 20 carbs."

Not sure about that. I am attending Weight Watchers meetings and they strive for fruits, veggies, protein and healthy fats.

On average, my fat is usually 35, protein is 20, and carbs are 45. I eat 1500-1800 cals.

I go even lower on carbs when I want to lose weight- I have found that I can have up to 100 grams per day and still lose body fat. I can eat 100-150 grams to maintain. Most diets have you eat way more carbs athan this.
I try not to eat processed foods and I try to eat my carbs mostly in veggies and fruits. Fat is not the enemy. I try to eat omega 3's fats and MUFAs and avoid omega 6's and PUFAs and above all I read labels to avoid transfats! emoticon

Your ratio sounds like zone diet. Short term achievement but not a long term one.
