Today's Daily Visualization ask me to relater smaller short-term goals to 5 things that I want in life.
My short term goals are to lose weight and to finish my grading before the beginning of mid-year break. These short term goals fit into my longer-term goals of being healthy and having a healthy happy family in many ways.
When I lose weight, I'll be healthier. In addition to that, I set a good example of health an activity for my family. I've already gotten my husband to start running. My small children get excited about races as well. They participate in little-kid races and they make their own imaginative races (like a run-tricycle-jump triathlon).
While finishing the Sisyphean task of grading essays may seem relatively unrelated to weight loss, in fact it is directly related. Grading causes me stress, which is a trigger for emotional eating. Additionally, it is easier for me to find time to exercise when I am not worrying abut the amount of work that is piling up.
All in all, my long- and short-term goals are well-matched.
