Walking by the Seine in Conflans- Sainte-Honorine

Sunday, December 16, 2012

Hello dear Sparkfriends!

The weather forecast for today was ‘rain, rain, rain’. Hmmm not even worth trying to go for a hike. So I decided to go to a lovely little town I had been seeing for years from the motorway bridge above the Seine, but never managed to visit...

Here is the view from the pedestrian bridge underneath the motorway bridge (as you can see there is a bright blue sky, it never rained!):

This is a closer view from the old town, with Montjoie Tower on the left (the big square building on the left) and St Maclou Church.

I first walked by the Seine in one direction...

... all the way until the Seine river meets the Oise river:.

I had a quick look at the Oise...

... and then walked to Conflans Sainte-Honorine...

... all the way up to the Montjoie Tower (built in 1085)...

...and the St Maclou Church...

I stopped briefly at a Christmas Market which was taking place in the pink house, but I couldn’t take any picture as it was all original works of art.

Then I walked back through the streets of the old town overlooking the Seine.

When I reached the Seine again, I stopped at the market on place Fouillčre on the way. My fridge was more or less empty (my week was too busy for shopping!), so it was perfect.

I bought crabs at the fish stand (they gave me 4 for 2... I’ll be eating crab all week!!!)...

I didn't buy langoustines which I find completely tasteless! Expensive too!

Nor did I buy oysters, I am always scared of hurting myself when I open them!

... I bought some ‘old fashioned’ bread...

... lettuces on the vegetables stand (no pictures, they were boring, like the crabs'!)...

a camembert...

But I didn’t buy anything at the meat stand! I already had 4 crabs for the week! :)))

No turkey...

And no foie gras!

I didn’t buy any hyacinth either, as I had already bought a lovely white cyclamen last week at my florist...

... nor any other thing Christmassy, although these white pine cones could have looked nice in my all-white apartment!

Now, it is time to go back to the last Christmas cards I need to finish before posting them tomorrow! :) What did you do today? I hope you had a lovely weekend!
