The snow has melted, the frost is gone, the temps are in the 40's....

And it's a nice Sunday afternoon.
It can only mean one thing - it's time for an end of season bike ride!
When I got up this morning, I really didn't know if I was going to do this. I mean there was frost on the ground, and I was feeling a little sore from spending 45 minutes on the trainer yesterday.
Still, I was thinking that maybe a bike ride might be in the works. So after church, I drove down to the river to check on the condition of the bike paths. With the exception of a couple of small puddles, the paths were free of snow, ice, and were dry for the most part. Things were looking promising.
But about 12:30, I got a real bad case of the Sunday afternoon 'sleepies' (happens when you are my age). Not to be deterred, I figured a quick 40 minute nap followed by a cup of coffee and I would be good to go.
At 2:30 pm, my step son comes over to try and recover the data on one of my hard drives - we quickly determine that this will require some professional assistance, and he is on his way. It's now 2:50 pm - and I'm starting to wonder if I will be able to get out. But he is on his way, and I finish my last minute checks and prep - voila! I'm out the door by 3:00 pm.
It turned out to be a GREAT day to ride! Temps in the mid 40's, wind is almost calm on the river, and while there is some haze, it's actually a pretty sunny day. A GREAT day for the 16th of December. So I went out for a 80 minute, 16 mile ride up and down the Han river, returning home right at sunset (which these days is about 4:40 pm).
I topped the day off by attending our local Christmas concert at one of the chapels on post, and finished the day with a hot cocoa at Starbucks.
What a great day! Onward!
