I Finally Hit 50 Pounds Down!!

Saturday, December 15, 2012

Woo hoo! I thought I was going to hit 50 pounds lost a week or two ago, but have hit a bit of a snag so far this month (still 100% on plan, but not really losing any weight).

The last 2 days I have increased my calories from 1200ish to 1500ish, changed up my cardio (35+ minutes of rebounding to 45 minutes of Zumba daily), and increased my water from 8 cups to 12 cups, and today, I was actually down a bit of weight (-1.6 for the week)!! It isn't much, BUT it was enough to put me at 50.2 pounds lost since I started on August 4th! I'm almost at my halfway point (53.5), and hopefully I'll get there by January 1st!

It feels wrong to be increasing my calories when I'm struggling to lose weight, but it seems to be working (in conjunction with the exercise change and water increase)! And I must admit, after 4 months of 1200 calories, 1500 calories is kind of nice!! I just need to keep choosing healthy foods for those extra calories (last night, my family ate candy while we played Monopoly... I used my 300 extra calories for greek yogurt and trail mix).

Hopefully this isn't a fluke and the scale keeps going down!! And if I can lose more weight on more calories, well heck yeah!

Congrats!!! Sometimes you just need to jolt your body out of a rut and it sounds like you did the right thing. Eat more and increase your calorie burn and water intake. I always check my sleep and my water intake if my scale isn't moving. Those are the two things to throw my body off the fastest!

Keep up the good work! emoticon

At some point, increasing the calories is actually the right thing to do, good job on the 50 gone, you rock.

emoticon ! You are killing it! 50 lbs in 4 months is some Biggest Loser type stuff. You should be really proud of yourself. A 1200 calorie diet is not for everyone. Actually I don't think its for most. You dont want to go more then 1000 calories below your Basal Metabolic Rate because then you will stop losing weight and plateau. I am sure you burn 2200 calories a day without doing anything and adding on exercise would mean that you are probably closer to burning 2700 -2900 calories per day meaning you would want to aim for 1700 calories. Since 1500 is working for you, stick with that just know that if you start increasing the intensity of your workouts, you will need to increase the calories a bit as well. Keep it up and your halfway goal will be reached by New Years!

Love that you chose such a healthy food for your extra calories - I think mine would have gone to a cookie. Congratulations for a job well done.
