Kudos to SANDIEGOJOHN who had one of his blog posts featured here on SP a couple of days ago. He also had this great idea in response to my last blog post, entitled "WHY I WANT TO WRITE POLL QUESTIONS FOR SPARKPEOPLE!":

"I say you start writing them here in your blog. Build up a fan-base and see where it takes you!"

Thanks, SANDIEGOJOHN, I'm doing just that, starting right now. : )

I think so many of us have gotten into the disastrous habit of eating for reasons other than hunger. Usually these reasons are emotionally based. Sometimes we need to be creative in finding other things to meet these emotional needs. So, I think I'll start by focusing on such an issue. Here's the question:

When you want to "treat" yourself with something other than food, what is your favorite sense to indulge?

A. Sight

B. Sound

C. Smell

D. Touch

F. Something else (Note it in the comments section, please.)

Thanks for reading my blog! Please "like" it, if you liked this question & the options.

Happy sparking and sensing, everyone!

I would have to go with "D" because I love the feel of my cats' fur and I dream of getting a massage (a friend asked what I want for Christmas - there's a gift certificate idea that I'll have to remember but maybe too much). "A" would be a close second because I love to read.

    Treats for the MIND !!!
Taking time to read some New York Times, or do the daily Sudoku.
Browsing something new and interesting using Google.
Or a good movie, or event that gives you something new to think about...

  Great question!!! Clever! emoticon

Gee, I like several. Smell, lovely scent of lavender ( bath, lotion, on pillow), green tea with jasmine. These have a fragrance and in some cases taste.

Hmm--I guess a hot shower or (even better) a bubble bath would be touch? That would be just dandy!! Of course, a good book would be another indulgence......

Let's see covering my gray hairs.....putting on lipstick.....really exercising more than 10's something really awesome.....realizing for the moment I am pain free! Love that one! I don't really treat myself to much of anything ....maybe that's what's unbalanced in my life????!!!! Thanks for the insight!!!! emoticon

I'm a chocoholic. I don't know what category to put that. When I want to indulge or stressed I crave chocolate. It doesn't always win though. I'm getting better at it. I'll emoticon though. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sometimes it's the smell of FOOD that gets me into trouble - and then when I taste it I keep searching for the nirvana that was in that aroma.

I am now seeking satisfaction from the smells themselves - and not just foods, although they're certainly in the mix. There's the smell of pine - of spices - of burning wood fires - so many!

    I think I'd have to choose F - Other.
And the other would be multiple senses, because the more senses that are involved, the more satisfying the reward. Flowers are beautiful (sight) plus the scent is also great (smell). Scented lotion involves the senses of smell and touch. Going for a walk in a scenic place involves smell, sight, sound, maybe touch, and is good for clearing your head away by getting away from all the distractions around us.

... I left out the sense of TASTE because I was looking at alternatives to it. I didn't think anyone would really choose ESP, but that has happened. I just wanted to have a fun/silly option, but if people take it seriously, that works, too. it's always interesting, and often surprising, to see how people respond to those.

A lot of people are answering with several options/answers. Good point about the options sometimes being combined. I like your "concert" example. I thought about adding other things (like kinesthesia), but then decided to keep this one to the four senses (besides taste), plus a fun answer and an "other" option. I'll save those kinds of options for other questions.

Glad you liked it & "got" it. I love your kind of analysis.

Keep on Sparkin' (and thinkin')!

Hehe, left out sense of smell in the list and put in ESP. Too cute.

I think I'd answer "Other" - as many senses as possible. For example, a concert can indulge our hearing, our sight (go pyrotechnics or cute band member), our touch (thump, thump of base), our sense of belonging (part of an excited crowd of fans), and so on.

Touch - something warm in winter, like a bath, a nap in bed, a hot drink. Something cold in summer, like a cool shower, dip in pool/lake/ocean, cold drink.

Great question! I gave your blog a "like".

I'd probably pick A (but a little D too). However I'm a very visual person, and love reading and crafts. So A wins!

A. I would have to go with sight. I love to read which activates my imagination.

Edited to include an answer to the poll.

Nicely thought provoking...I think I turn to fave music which moves me, Nature (sight ) which soothes me, and cardio (kinesthetic) which grooves me.
