10 weeks to drop the pounds

Thursday, December 13, 2012

So I've joined the holiday challenge for one of my Spark Groups. It's a 10 week challenge that will see me through the holidays. I know Christmas and New Years are always incredibly difficult times for me and usually I end up gaining. I'm not entirely sure how possible this is, but I want to lose 10-15 lbs by the time this challenge is over. That will bring me down below 160 and closer to a healthy BMI.

I'm also going to be trying my best to cut down my smoking. It's been getting to be too much and too expensive lately and so I want to cut it down to no more than 5/day. So far that hasn't been too tough but when I'm back at school I know it'll get hard again.

I'm really excited for this challenge and I hope it will help me jump start some really serious weight loss.

Those sound like great goals! I think it's awesome that you are using this challenge as a way to both lose weight and start healthier life habits by cutting back on smoking.

I don't think I know of anyone who doesn't struggle with keeping on track during the holidays. There is so much temptation and those "little bite here, little bite there" that we end up losing control. I know I do!! LOL. That's why I volunteered to be a captain because I figured I would be forced to stay on track if other team members are looking to me to "lead by example". So far it's been great.

I am definitely happy to hear you are trying to cut down on your smoking. That is a journey in itself. I have watch my whole family start and stop and the fact that you are truly motivated to do it, I have no doubt that you will succeed!!

Best of luck during the challenge! Please let us know if you need anything!

The holidays are the WORST when it comes to trying to lose weight. That's what's so perfect about this challenge. It'll give us a little more accountability and motivation to stay on track or at least as close to on track as possible over the next few weeks.
