Hello my spark friends, I haven't talked about the changes in my life much. Mainly because I was getting adjusted. I changed jobs earlier this year and my two medications went from $50 a quarter to over $500 a quarter. Is that insane or what???
I was off work that particular day after picking up my medication and I was ranting to a friend about how expensive my medication cost. I was fussing because I could get off the medication if I could just lose some weight. I have tried so hard. I lose 15 to 30 pounds and it comes right back on. A vicious cycle if I must say so myself, and not to mention how hard that is on my kidney's being a diabetic. My friend was like have you ever thought about weight loss surgery. I told her NOOOOOO!!! I can do this on my own. She said friend just call and schedule a consultation. So I went home and cried and prayed about that.
I called True Results and I was able to get in within a couple of weeks. I researched the options. I am very scary so I went in and discussed the lap band with them. After reviewing my insurance it would cost me $1300 out of pocket. That is cheaper than the medication I am taking on an annual basis.
I had a total of 4 visits. The first visit I weighed in at 269, the second visit a month later I weighed in at 272, the third visit I weighed in at 274 and the final visit I weighed in at 284.1; now mind you these visits are exactly 30 days apart. I was totally disgusted with myself.
After all of the years of telling myself I would never do this and then I decide to go for it. I gain weight.
I started my pre op diet for the lap band on 10/25 at 284.1. I went in the morning of 11/15 for surgery, I was down 10 pounds. I met that goal...I was excited. I was still in shock that I had decided to do lap band surgery the week before Thanksgiving.
I discussed the option with my Endocrinologist and she was like I will support your decision. I believe it will help you to reach your goals and get off the medication. My doctor scheduled me to come back and see her January 4, 2013. She said I am excited and can't wait to see the new woman who comes into my office.
My first day out of surgery. I was fine. I prayed and asked GOD please do not let me suffer with the awful gas pains I have heard about. No gas what so ever. I had a little discomfort from the incisions. As of today I am 4 weeks post op. My incisions are healed up. I have been walking on the treadmill. I haven't started back hard core working out. I am down 25 pounds.
I will see the surgeon today just for a follow up. So far my procedure has been good, no complications.
I had a boyfriend, but that ended...he decided to do something different. I was sad, but I am ok. I am focused on me and my life. At this point I do not need any distractions.
I will take and add new pictures soon...
