Sunday thru Wednesday

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Let’s see. Since my last post, I went on a bike ride with my FFBC friends. There were 33 riders on Sunday! Some I knew. Some I didn’t. The club has changed since I lived there.

It was a great ride. We started in Pleasanton, rode over to Livermore, went out on the country roads (some good improvements) before the snack break. I was torn on what to get for fuel but ended up with an old favorite: tea and scone. I was riding well with the group. Initially I was with Ken G (in the lead) but dropped back intentionally to ride with some of my others friends. It felt good to be that strong. When we got into the hills, I was still strong (yay me). Rode with someone who kept advising me on the next turn and commenting how he had never been on these roads. I didn’t tell him, I’d been on them many, many times and could probably find my way without his assistance. That felt good too (knowing my way).

This is how we know it is winter in Calif, by the snowmen of course:

That afternoon we went ahead and drove back home. I think both Dan and I were tired of sleeping on the air mattress on the floor at Julia’s place. Hmmm, we used to think it was pretty comfortable on that mattress. Either we’ve been spoiled by the ‘new’ bed or we’re just getting older… OK, that’s enough musing on THAT subject.

Monday was a beautiful day with the sun shining and the air clear. However, I did not get outside to play. Did those clean up chores that need doing after being away for a few days (laundry, putting away stuff, going through the mail, etc)

Tuesday I DID get out for a bike ride. Couldn’t find anyone to go with me so headed out on my own. Just rode for an hour on the streets in our neighborhood. Went down Clinton which is a three mile dead end and there is only one house at the end of the road. I really enjoy being out without any other traffic-no walkers, equestrians, or cars. However, one of our neighbors said he saw a mountain lion at the top of our driveway Monday evening so maybe I shouldn’t go on that road without a partner…

Yesterday was our dress rehearsal for the concerts coming up. Guess I’m as ready as I’m gonna be. I’m starting to think I’m a detriment to the group but I’ll stick it out through Sunday. After that, I’m out. I’m not enjoying it as much as I’d like and I’d rather do other things with my time.

Today it is snowing. It started with rain but now it is definitely snow. I doubt it’ll stick but I’m sure not going outside to play today! I did bake cookies. That’s a good rainy/snowy day activity.

Oh, I started a fresh batch of sourdough starter last week. I made my first batch of sourdough pancakes yesterday and finished them up today. I’d like to try some bread but I think it needs to be warmer so the dough will rise properly.
