I am on the Biggest Loser Winter Challenge, Diamonds Team. Our challenge this week is to write a blog on 3 ways that we manage our stress during the Holidays.
Managing Stress through the Holidays:
1. Don't throw Health out the window – The holiday is not a free-for-all for overindulging, and then later feeling guilty & stressed out about it. Either allow for treats and set your limits ahead of time and stick to it, or decide ahead of time that you are going to indulge & just not going to stress it, with a plan to get back on track. For me personally, it will be about balance. It is unrealistic to think I will avoid everything, but I will be mindful of my choices (like at parties) and try to make extra good choices when I am able (like at home) I also am going to do my best to keep it all out of my house.
2. Plan ahead - Have a plan (dates & lists) for things like baking, shopping, cooking w/planned menu & identify those things you can prepare ahead of time. There will always be last minute surprises, so I try to plan for and manage those things that I can as best as I can, so the unplanned things don't totally stress me out. The more prepared I am, the better.
3. Stick to a budget – For gift giving and for holiday meals & party foods. Again, it all goes back to planning. Knowing your budget limits and update regularly, helps to not feel so stressed and out of control.
Most of these fall into the same category of organization. Planning and organization. By doing these things ahead of time, you can be a position to better see where you might need to delegate, where you might need to say no, where you might need to cut back, etc.
