Woke Up Drugged

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

Wow! When I woke up this morning I seriously felt like I had been drugged. I didn't sleep well, but the biggest change from other days besides having a challenging 1st cycle day with really bad cramps was that I ate poor choices for dinner and already had a high sodium day.

I blame the poor nutrition of my dinner for waking up so ... "food hung-over", for lack of a better phrase. I was sluggish and even my brain felt muddled. At first I thought that I was imagining things, but compared to my blood circulating during CrossFit, and after re-hydrating all morning, I can't come to any other conclusion.

Not only did it affect my sleep, when I got home last night, it was all I could manage to get myself out of the car and upstairs to bed. I fell asleep on top of my phone as I was setting the alarm (I never even got that done).

I'm glad that I'm okay, and not actually sick or anything. It was quite a trip, and definitely a reminder to keep on track with nutrition. I'm pretty sure that I felt like those sensations were normal at one time. I'm very glad that they aren't any more. I have a new normal.

Another reason to eat healthy all the time...

My body is screaming fruit right now... Listen to your body, not your mind.

emoticon It is amazing to me how quickly our Body becomes accustomed to Healthy Eating. And that we used to think "Food Hangovers" were Normal.

Same here! Last night I had a binge episode (first time in a long time for one this bad) and couldn't even keep my eyes open past 8pm....then did all I could to crawl into bed. This morning, I woke up Tired (with a capital T) but I slept for 11 hours! I also woke up realizing I hadn't even taken my contacts out last night, that's how out of it I was. I love that I'm recognizing these episodes this way now and that they're making me feel the way they do....because I know for a fact that I, too, thought this to be normal before. Keep on keeping on!

When I was a pretty strict vegan, I recall going to my folks' for a visit and had eggs. And they about made me pass out.

You get used to one thing, or another, as you go. Better to be used to the healthy stuff, eh?

Sounds like me sometimes....the "Food Hangover" Hummm? Being so tired and almost falling asleep standing up. But mine is usually when I haven't eaten so I think it is just my crazy sleep habits (or lack of sleep).
But "Food Hangover" sounds interesting to me.

emoticon for keeping me motivated! emoticon
