I NEED to bake

I learned something else about myself today.

Let's set the scene: I'm sitting in the living room on my own, starting to get cold, trying not to cry about Grandma again. I'm cross with the bf because he apparently isn't capable of even the most basic communication. I'm so wound up I can't even be bothered to spark. I'm just going to put my pjs on, take a book to bed and hopefully fall asleep. At 6.40pm.

Pretty sad. But then I remembered that I wanted to try baking rock cakes, and figured I would give them a go before heading to bed as they only take half an hour.

Well, the rock cakes are made, my flatmate and I have tasted them (mmmmmmmm) and now I'm here being all sparky again. Just half an hour and I'm back up to positive from way down below negative. I NEED to bake. It's a bit of an unfortunate stress-reliever really, considering I'm trying to lose weight!

    Baking is good therapy, as long as I can get them put away in the freezer of to someone. Of course, I had to make some Christmas cookies and they're still around for the guys to eat and of course, Karen had to eat some too, like every day. No wonder my weight will be up this next week and I'm sooo close to another goal. Errrrr!

    I baked some brownies last night because I had the urge to bake! And.. I didn't have any! I think it is strange that I get the urge to bake for other people haha

    I love to bake too but I try to limit it to special occasions or to when I can take the goodies somewhere. I can't let them stay in the house or I will eat them all! LOL I'm glad you're feeling better. emoticon

    I love baking too. I think it's the exactness of following a recipe that calms me down. And then the wonderful smells that you make while doing it only helps, too. emoticon

    LOL - You are going to have to explain what rock cakes are. We don't have them here in Arizona! If they are THAT good, you will need to send me one, too!

    By all means, relieve your stress by baking. Then you can wrap up the goodies and give them away.

    I bake all the time and usually bring it to work and it is gone. My trouble comes when there is some left over, I can't stand throwing food out. So I always try to send some home with others! It is great stress relief!

    Well, there's no harm in baking and giving the goods away to neighbors, friends, family members (random SparkFriends living overseas, I'm just saying...!)

    It could get expensive, but it doesn't have to get caloric!

    Baking is an awesome stress reliever. I find that mixing or kneading dough is great for frustration or anxiety. To keep myself from overindulging though, I usually give most of my baked goods away. So it ends up making me AND someone else very happy!
