Day 7 - Somehow it is getting harder and harder to get and keep my life organized. Never fear....I do have "the Purple 3-Ring Binder". Inside its generous pockets of sheet protection lay the very essence of my earthly existence. There is Papa's birthcertificate, my birth certificate, ones belonging to his children, and ones belonging to my children. Our Marriage License comes next, behind which lay all titles to autos. Following after is papa's school records, a copy of his resume, his DD214, certificates received as result of employment training, and then my similiar papers. There are pictures and documents of previous homes and addresses. Newsclippings of life events that pertain to us, obits, sad public stories of departed friends. It is a place to reflect on our life together. Good Housekeeping (where I first gained insight for just such a book) called it a "Life Book".
Before reading that article, I did not know that if someone you love would die that you need immediately to have a birth certificate. One cannot clear the way for a death certificate (some bodies lie in wait longer than others) and, particularly, no other important business pertaining to the deceased can be accomplished without that Birth Certificate. Also, included in the "book" are all insurance papers, wills, declarations for HealthCare, cementary plot deeds, and passports.
So that part of organizing my life is done. My children know, and I know, where that book is at all times. It is visible in my office space and within easy reach, if and when it may be needed.
Now it is my intention to begin a Household Inventory List...That ought to help organize my home. I will do some online research and start this particular journey today. It ought help me to clean and clear out the nooks and crannies of my humble abode. Just gonna do it, because I "ain't never" and it needs to happen.
