Stress can be a trigger for me to eat mindlessly, so how do I "down stress" for the holidays? Down size is a term so I am using down stress the same way! I have 5 adult children, 4 of them have spouses, and I have 7 grandchildren. The last thing any of us needs is more "stuff" in our homes, so a few years ago we decided to buy gifts for the children 18 and under only. Us adults still get a gift, but it is a photo exchange from each family. I love it. There is nothing more enjoyable than an annual family picture from everybody to hang over last years picture. Buying for the children is so easy. They all make a wish list and as people get anything off the wish list they send email out to update the list so we don't duplicate. We have all decided for videos, DS Games, WII games etc used is just fine! The kids don't care as long as the movie or game comes with everything and works. I made it even easier this year. I bought Pacific Science Center passes for each of the families (officially for the kids right?). The teacher in me couldn't resist. Now the kids get to enjoy family outings all year long. I'll get to enjoy it once or twice with them as well. The passes are good at locations all across the country... dinasaur exhibit here we come.
