I'm not big on bean-counting, but I noticed the other day that in another 3.5 pounds I will be a quarter of my way into my SparkJourney. All being well, at my six-month SparkVersary, I will have lost 31.5 pounds.

Doesn't time fly?

I joined SP five and a half months ago and that seems a lifetime away. What did I do before SP? Eat, I suppose! So far, I've lost 28 pounds. It doesn't sound much if you say it quickly, but it's about a pound a week, which is ok. One thing I've learnt is that if you win small battles (for example I stayed within calories today and walked for 40 minutes) you will eventually win the war on flab.

And war it is. I've always said that if it was easy for someone to lose weight, they wouldn't have put it on in the first place. So it's a double whammy.

At the moment, I don't want to look too far into the future. However I did set myself June 2014, two years after signing up to SP, as my date for reaching my target weight. Next year I plan to lose 70 to 80 pounds, so I need to step up my weight loss a tiny bit. That said, if I kept losing weight at the same rate I have over the last six months, and only lost 50 pounds, it wouldn't be the end of the world. However, I'm concentrating on today and tomorrow, and while I'm not losing sight of my ultimate goal, winning those daily battles is what will ultimately get me to that misty and distant goal.

I've already made my plans for Christmas. Two days of eating what I want, out of a 19-day holiday from work. The rest of the time I am staying on track and exercising very very hard indeed, outdoors as much as I can manage it. Time was when I would have been looking forward to three weeks in front of the telly. Now I'm planning walks, walks and more walks.

I'm so excited: I'm going to Cornwall for a few days at the weekend so we all get a break from Epping Forest and a chance to look at the (IMO) most beautiful places in England.

Here's hoping for good weather!

Congratulations on your weight loss journey so far! They say losing 1-2 lbs / week gives you a better chance to keep the weight of longer and learn better habits. You're doing great.

If the picture above is your exercise view, I'm jealous! :)

Have a healthy and happy holiday,

Karen emoticon

I set my goal date--and have changed it a couple of times. NO PROBLEM if you need to change it! Took a long time to gain the weight--will take time to lose it as well. Focus on the journey and you'll "arrive" when the time is right.

Love that you're so balanced in your thinking about the pounds lost. Slow and steady wins the race. :) And I can't wait to see Cornwall through your camera lens. Everything I've ever seen of it (TV shows, mainly) show me it's gorgeous.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! You have a plan in place and I have no doubt you'll be successful. I have not been focused on my food plan, just on exercising, so I'm not losing pounds, but the inches are definitely melting off. You are an inspiration--enjoy your time at "the shore". We will all look forward to your seaside blog!!

We started SP at about the same time (me, mid-July), and I've only lost 23 pounds, so you're doing great, and I'm having a real hard time since I went on vacation. So as I climb back on the wagon, I'll keep you in mind as my inspiration!!!

Made Chicken Noodle soup last night, so I have good meals instead of my favorite seasonal junk like Pannetone, and ginger cookies!!!! (my personal downfalls this past week!)

Looking forward to your Cornwall visit. Good wishes for fantastic weather and a great time! Have fun!

Congratulations on your successful journey! You are an inspiration to scale is not moving at all...10+ pounds, then 15 and then stagnate.

I'm doing genealogy research on both my side of the family and my husband's...his traces back to 1555 Cornwall....when you go, please post photos. We've been to London, but never out into the countrysides. Planning to come over and do research on our history while there. emoticon

Congrats on your success. Lately I've been having trouble stringing those good days together. I need to step it up too.

CongrAtulations Chantal on your awesome achievement!
28 lbs of fat lost is just great but the truly amazing part is that you've stayed true to your commitment to yourself for 6 months. Thats more impressive than any number on a scale could be! You are my daily inspiration and I often think about you during the day. You are a marvellous writer and your attitude towards life -- just knowing how to be in the moment and actually celebrating life by paying attention to all of its beauty and constant offerings. Next time I am in London I would love to meet you and raise a glass (or a cup of tea!) in your honour!
PS I love cats too and have quite a few of them even though in this photo I am with a wolf (I volunteer at a wolf sanctuary) have a wonderful trip to Cornwall. Looking forward to hanging on your every word! :-)

if you Google what a pound of body fat looks like, you will be amazed. Losing one of those every week is marvellous. Try to pick up something weighing 28 pounds and then imaging it strapped to your body. You've done brilliantly so far.
