Girls' Night Out

Monday, December 10, 2012

So, yesterday one of my friends was performing with a chorale in a concert. So three other friends bought tickets and all went together to cheer her on. We planned to meet up with our star after the show and go out for an early dinner.

As a group they had chosen a Greek restaurant. I had studied the menu online and chosen my dinner selections carefully. I would not go over my calorie limit for the day and could even have a glass of wine.

But after the show, the Greek restaurant was closed so we went to the group's second choice--a 50's themed diner that specializes in 'comfort food.' That is, high-fat, high refined carbs, mostly fried, fattening foods. I know--I've eaten way too much of it and that's how I came to need SP. I took a deep breath and studied the entire six-page menu.

I had to search the whole menu to find one little item titled 'for light eaters.' It was a skinless chicken breast, tomato slices, cottage cheese and applesauce. I ordered it! No glass of wine, but I stayed within my limits and enjoyed the company of my girlfriends.

emoticon I think I would have paniced!
You did great! I fear I would have caved. I actually think I avoid going to town when I'm in a good streak of dieting. It's just easier at home. I need to look at it as a way to learn how to adapt in the real world. It just so hard though.
Thanks for sharing. I'm really proud of you!

Great job not letting the change of venue give you a free pass to "give up and eat"!
